Will a break in Career affect your Second Innings?

The reason to write about this topic is, I have started my second innings in Career after a year’s gap :) . Most of the people asks, are you aware of the latest techniques or updates? Some people are even neglecting without asking questions just for a career break.

As per my view, a career break won’t affect a person’s knowledge much if they are interested in upgrading their career. It also depends upon the platform in which you are into.

Online Marketing is a field with lots of updates every now and then. Meanwhile, it’s a field where only Self Learning helps. So you can update yourself by Self learning, reading the latest trends and techniques though you are in a break.

For an example - Say, if a person is up-to-date of all the latest updates and techniques reading the blogs and websites, will only that be enough to be declared as a good SEO professional? Or if a person who is in a break didn’t read about an update, (say the panda update - since this is the recent one) but has practical knowledge and good at analyzing things….. Which one counts more?

It’s certainly a “NO” to the first question in the above line. And, of course a SEO Professional should be aware of the all the recent changes happening in the industry. But, the practical knowledge he/she gained so far and the way of seeing things should also be taken into consideration, because they can also read about the panda update one or the other day, but the practical knowledge only be gained only if you work in different scenarios mingling with different people and tools. "Both" should be there, awareness of the latest updates and the good practical knowledge & analyzing skill.....

So, I conclude this topic with a statement, a break in career won’t affect the Second innings if that person is willing to upgrade the career, a good self-learner depending upon the work platform.
